What you See on the Lynchburg TN Map

The center of Lynchburg TN map is the Moore County Courthouse.  This courthouse is over 100 years old being built in the 1880's.  The walls are approximately 20 inches thick.  The original building was expanded on both sides in the early 1900s.  The buildings on the downtown square are all over 100 years old as well.  A fire unfortunately substantially damaged the city in the early 1880's so most were rebuilt after that.  

There are numerous festivals and celebrations throughout the year -- you can find the local area current events listed here.   It is a small city of approximately 6,000 people though there are surrounding cities such as Winchester TN and Tullahoma TN which are both approximately 20 minutes away that have slightly larger populations. Though their histories all go back past the turn of the century.    The city of Lynchburg TN is in Moore County, which interestingly has the same geographic area as the city of Lynchburg TN -- the county and city have what is called a consolidated city / county government. Miss Mary Bobo's historic house is now a restaurant that is owned and run by Jack Daniels.

Downtown Lynchburg TN is a Short Walk

The Jack Daniels distillery is just a few blocks walk on a meandering path that goes between downtown and the distillery.  You can see this as the blue line going east from downtown.

Walk around the downtown using the  Lynchburg TN map to find the best stores and restaurants.  And make sure to enjoy the history of the area.  Imagine dirt roads, Jack Daniel walking around, and the smell of Whiskey in the air.

On the historical Lynchburg TN Map, you can see Mary Bobo's house in the lower left, Moore County Bank (lower center), the downtown square, Lem Motlow's business on the square along with a variety of other stores.  At that time the county courthouse was in the middle of the square.    Bridge Street has become part of main street more recently.  Just over East Mulberry Creek from Main Street is the Jack Daniels distillery.
