Bear Trace Tims Ford Golf Course

The Bear Trace Tims Ford Golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and built in 1999 on part of the Tims Ford State Park. There are 3 bear trace golf courses all built by Jack with just one being at Tims Ford.

The Tims Ford golf course features Champion Bermuda greens and 419 Bermuda fairways. The opening holes are a blend of links-style creations that gently roll across former pasture land, then gradually transition to wooded sites dominated by giant oak trees.  

The golf course is situated on a peninsula that overlooks Tims Ford Lake on both sides.  You can view the lake from some of the holes.  The full course is 6,763 yards from the gold tees with a rating of 72.7 and a slope of 128 with a par of 71.  This declines to the shortest course from the red tees at 4,827 yards, a rating of 68.1 and slope of 117.

The amenities at the Bear Trace Tims Ford include Driving Range, Practice Green, On-Site Lodging, Snack Bar, and Club Rental.  There is a pro that offers golf lessons as well

• Brett: Talk about excellent service! The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating… drinks, snacks, directions to the tee boxes/range. This is a great course and plays very similar to another Bear Trace, Harrison bay. However, the sand traps at Harrison Bar are definitely superior. This course drains better and plays more challenging and less forgiving than Harrison Bay. Great state park course. Great views. Great experience. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!

Bear Trace Tims Ford Golf Course

Franklin County Country Club Golf Course

The 9-hole "Franklin County" course at the Franklin County Country Club facility in Winchester, Tennessee features 3,308 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. The Franklin County golf course opened in 1954. 

The course has a 9 tee golfing range, a bar and snack bar as well.

There are two tees - the white is par 36 at 3308 yards, and the red is par 37 at 2818 yards.

Scenic View Golf Course

The Scenic View Golf Course in Winchester TN is family owned and operated. They have been in operation for over 45 years.   The tees and fairways are Bermuda, and the greens are Bent Grass.

The golf course is open to the public but also offers memberships.  The course is open play and no tee times required.  They do hold regular golfing events to participate in and are open 7 days a week (weather permitting).

Scenic View Golf Course Winchester TN

The Sewanee Golf Course (Course at Sewanee)

The Sewanee Golf Course is located in Sewanee TN which is a short drive from Winchester.  The Course at Sewanee was renovated by Gil Hanse in 2013 — Golf Magazine’s 2009 Architect of the Year.

There are 94 Google reviews with an average rating of 4.7 / 5 and some of the reviewers have said:  

• Gavin:  This might be the best golf experience I've had in a while.  From Matt at the front desk to the driving range to the immaculate putting and chipping greens to the bar - and I haven't even mentioned the course yet.  This Gil Hanse-refurbished 9-hole track is a complete joy, managing to hit that sweet spot so beloved of Alistair McKenzie - to be both challenging to the better player and fun for the deep amateur.  Practice putting before you start.  I was on the first hole, a par 5, in regulation - only to four-putt.  The turf was so springy, the air so breezy and light, that I did not care one bit.
  
  
• William:  This is a top 3 course in Tennessee. Very tough, but they keep conditions in pristine shape and you get great views from the par 3s of the Middle Tennessee valley. This is an easy substitute for Sweeten's cove and I actually like this course better. Can make an easy weekend out of it stay on the mountain!
