Tims Ford Lake Fishing   

Tims Ford Lake located in south central Tennessee is considered one of the best and most beautiful fishing lakes in all of Tennessee.  

The lake is stocked with fish annually, has almost 250 miles of shoreline, and varying depths of a few feet to more than 150 feet by the dam.  There are wide open areas along with a significant number of smaller fingers to fish on.

The lake was designated as a Bill Dance Signature lake for its ability to be a destination fishing location and provide quality fishing fun for avid anglers as well as families. This designation and program will include infrastructure improvements both above and below the water, along with branding and marketing to drive visitation and economic impact. 

Are there Bass Fishing Clubs on for Tims Ford Lake Fishing?

The Tims Ford Bass Club is located by downtown Winchester on the lake. They have their own clubhouse and have meetings monthly. Additionally the bass club holds regular fishing tournaments including the "Spring Classic" fishing tournament on Tims Ford Lake the first Saturday in April each year. The club also host weekly Wednesday night tournaments from early April to early October

Are there Fishing Tournaments on Tims Ford Lake?

Tims Ford Lake Fishing becomes competitive with the many fishing tournaments held on the lake.  The Tims Ford Bass club, other local fishing clubs as well as more national organizations as well.  The Winchester TN bass club has a large fishing tournament during the spring each year, and there are smaller tournaments almost every week during the warmer months.

What are the best times for Tims Ford Lake Fishing?

Mid-September to late May are the best times for fishing for small mouth bass.  Especially in Late Spring.  This shifts to evenings / nights over the summer months.

What Kind of Fish Are in Tims Ford Lake?

Tims Ford Lake Fishing is considered one of the best in the south.  There are quite a few different types of fish in Tims Ford lake with three different types being the predominant.

• Black Bass

  • Both Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass contribute significantly to the Tims Ford Lake fishing populations. Most of the fish caught on Tims Ford Lake is bass.
    
    

• Crappie

  • Both White and Black Crappie contribute to the Tims Ford Lake fish populations.  Blacknose Black Crappie are stocked annually by Normandy Fish Hatchery to provide a consistently good fishery and 80 percent of the crappie catch. 
    
    

• Hybrid Striped Bass and Striped Bass

  • Hybrid Striped Bass (hybrids) and Striped Bass are in Tims Ford Lake. .  Striped Bass in the 20 – 30-pound range are caught each year.  Striped Bass and hybrid striped bass fingerlings are stocked annually by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) hatcheries
