First owned and established by the Moore Family through 1966 where Mr Robert Cortner who was working at the home purchased the business from an aging Mrs Moore (widowed from Mr Moore who had passed a few years earlier).
The name was changed from the Moore Funeral Home to Moore-Cortner Funeral Home at that point. It continues to be operated by the Cortner family.

The firm was owned by a few families and moved to its current location in 1968. The owners of Watson North and The Moore Cortner Funeral homes had been friends for years. Due to Mr Watson's declining health, the Watson North Funeral Home was sold to the Cortner family this past November 2022. This combined the two Winchester TN funeral homes into one.
The tradition continues with it being all in the family.
